A short list of questions for your provider

Use this list at a consultation in Tucson for skin, laser, injectable or body treatments.

Questions to ask a provider

Take this list to your consultation and write down the answers.

  • Who will perform the treatment, and what license do they hold?
  • What training have they had for this specific treatment?
  • Which device or product will you use, and why that one?
  • How many sessions does a typical series involve, and how far apart?
  • What aftercare will I need, and what should I avoid afterward?
  • What are the possible side effects?
  • What happens if something goes wrong, and who do I contact?
  • What is the total cost, including follow-ups, before I start?

Write it down first

Memory is unreliable when you are in an unfamiliar room with a lot of new information. A short written list keeps the conversation on track.

Put down your medical conditions, medications and supplements, allergies, and any cosmetic treatments you have had before. Add the questions you care about most. If you have photos of a skin concern that changes over time, you can bring those too.

When to pause

A consultation should feel like an exchange of information. If it feels like a sales pitch, take a step back.

Watch for pressure to commit on the spot, a treatment offered with no consultation, unclear answers about who does the work, or a reluctance to write down the total cost. Each of these is a reason to wait. To look up a license, search the website of the relevant Arizona state licensing board by the person's name.
