Injectables, in general terms
An injectable is a product placed into or under the skin with a needle or cannula. In a med spa, that usually means wrinkle relaxers or dermal fillers. Products, doses and techniques differ, and so do the areas a provider will consider.
Because these are injected, rules are stricter than for a facial. Injectables are given by licensed providers where state law allows, and Arizona sets who may inject and what supervision applies. A provider will also need your health history and a list of your medicines before anything is decided.
If you are curious but unsure, a consultation request is a low-pressure way to ask.
Things to tell an injector up front
Some details change what an injector will suggest, so mention them early:
- any injectables you have had before, with dates if you know them
- any reaction you had, even a mild one
- dental work or vaccines coming up soon
- recent illness or a skin infection near the area
- a big event in the next few weeks
- pregnancy, plans to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
A licensed provider uses this to decide what is suitable and when. Injectables are given by licensed providers where state law allows, under Arizona rules on who may inject.
A short list to bring
For an injectables consultation, bring:
- photo ID
- your medicine and supplement list
- names of any past injectables, and dates
- a note of any reactions or allergies
- your questions, written down
Some people also bring a photo from a few years ago if they want to describe something that has changed. Ask the office whether to arrive without makeup. Do not stop any prescribed medicine to prepare unless the person who prescribed it agrees.
Questions about injectables
Does this site inject anyone?
No. This site is not a clinic and has no providers. It passes your consultation request to a local provider in or near Tucson. Any injectable is given by a licensed provider where state law allows, after a consultation where they decide what is suitable.
Can I have injectables while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Most providers do not give wrinkle relaxers or dermal fillers during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If either applies, or you are planning a pregnancy, tell the provider at the start of the consultation. They will decide what is suitable, which may mean waiting.
Do I need to stop any medicines first?
Do not stop a prescribed medicine without talking to the person who prescribed it. Some medicines and supplements, such as blood thinners, aspirin and fish oil, can make bruising more likely, so bring a full list to the consultation. The provider weighs it and decides what is suitable.
